Feature request: Muting users

Blocking is sometimes a bit harsh and would be excessive if you're just going to block every user you dislike, so how about a mute feature?

Let's say that User 1 muted User 2.
User 2 mentioned User 1 in a comment. User 1 doesn't get any notification.
User 2 replied to a thread followed by User 1. User 1 doesn't get any notification.
(Optional but not recommended) User 2 comments on User 1's profile. User doesn't get any notification.

This would be useful for users who don’t want to receive notifications from people who just post nonsense, but still want to receive notifications from others in the same thread. It lets them avoid those specific users without muting the entire thread or completely preventing interaction with them.

The mute button could be beside the block button in the user's profile.
